It have been two months since a left my old Job, and I have been guiding again. And I love it, taking people to my loved park (Torres del Paine, Patagonia) is something that I treasure every day, it commit me to nature. In contact with the nature and being a “keeper” is a privilege that I proudly bear. Showing the park, makes you respect it, clean it, try to understand the wildlife, read everything that you are looking at. This bring me the feeling of been part of Nature.
And that is all that I need.

Cerro Ballena is located in Peninsula Antonio Varas in the east part, in front of the Last Hope Fjord ( Fiordo Ultima Esperanza), it have an altitude of 865 m.a.s.l., you can get there crossing from the ferry at Puerto Natales, to the other side where is a road that take to Talcahuano Peninsula on the Jorge Montt Gulf, but is to the other side on the 4×4 track.
In my first day of work to Remota Hotel, the Head Guide invite me to go on a scouting to check for a new excursion, after the invitation of one of the owners of the Estancia to go and see Condors & Eagles and go to the summit, what a greay way to start a new job!!.
We have a aearly departure, looking for more guest for the trip but sadly many of them didn’t show up, sad for Pepe Coto, how is working hard to make it real. For us not really we could walk in a faster pace and explore more. Just I can say that the tourism in Puerto Natales or maybe some people is just like this eggs of Caiquen ( Upland goose) they haven’t hatch yet…
The drive was quite interesting in the morning, after crossing the Canal Señoret in the ferry, un-marked trail and very muddy but we manage,
this time.
After a friendly mate in the house it was time to go up!!
