Banff Mountain Festival in Patagonia

If you’re down in Patagonia this summer, don’t miss the Festival de Montaña Patagonia tour, with the best of The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour; and the best climbing films on the planet, in the Reel Rock Film Tour. This year we’ve added Coyhaique to the Chilean tour, along with the Festivals in Puerto Natales, now in its 6th year, and the 2nd year in Torres del Paine.

Here’s the summer schedule:

We’ve invited Jim Donini to Coyhaique as special guest speaker. Not 100% sure he will make it, but hopefully if he makes it down from a new route he’s opening up right now in Patagonia, he said he would be more than happy to share his experiences. Donini has focused on big wall alpine style routes with many first ascents in both Patagonia and Alaska including the notorious Torre Egger, and most recently the southernmost Avellano Tower in Chilean Patagonia.

In Puerto Natales and Torres del Paine, we’ve invited Timmy O’Neil, who’s just arriving to southern Patagonia. Timmy O’Neill is America’s most outrageous climber. He has set "gob-smacking" speed climbing records from Yosemite to Patagonia, and has been at the cutting-edge of the sport for over 15 years. He is a world-class slack-liner, renowned building solo climber, class 5+ kayaker and dangerously fast mountain biker. Timmy is best known for his irreverent humor and quick wit, which have been on display at his sold-out slideshows throughout the world. What will he be talking about? Who knows!? What is certain is how difficult it is to watch Timmy’s classic presentations without big laughs and good times.

Along with the Film Festival, there will be workshops and clinics during the day. There will be plenty going on, so don’t miss the best mountain films and a great party in southern Patagonia. Austral will help host the party in each festival!
